Black Iris Estate Wedding Videographer
A cinematic film to tell the story. A documentary film to preserve the day.
Why I Love Filming Weddings at Black Iris Estate
Black Iris Estate feels tucked away from the rest of Indianapolis. By the time guests arrive, it already feels like they’ve stepped into a different pace of the day. Between the tree-lined grounds, elegant mansion, and quiet outdoor spaces, it’s a venue that naturally encourages people to slow down and be present.
As a wedding filmmaker, that’s what I appreciate most. Beautiful venues certainly make my job easier, but the best wedding films aren’t created because of architecture alone. They’re created because couples have the time and space to enjoy the people around them. Black Iris Estate creates that kind of atmosphere.

Here’s a wedding film I created at Black Iris Estate that captures the atmosphere, emotion, and story of the day.
Why Black Iris Estate Works So Well for Wedding Films
Indoor & Outdoor Ceremony Options
One of the biggest advantages of Black Iris Estate is having beautiful ceremony options regardless of the weather. Outdoor ceremonies feel private and surrounded by nature, while the indoor space provides an elegant backup without feeling like an afterthought. Having both options gives couples peace of mind while keeping the day flowing smoothly.
A Seamless Wedding Day
One thing I enjoy about filming at Black Iris Estate is how naturally the day unfolds. Getting ready, portraits, the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception can all happen without guests or vendors spending time driving between locations. Less time traveling usually means more time celebrating.
A Venue That Feels Relaxed
Some venues feel busy from the moment you arrive. Black Iris Estate has always felt calmer to me. The property gives couples and guests room to spread out, enjoy conversations, and actually experience the wedding instead of rushing from one event to the next. Those quieter moments often become some of my favorite parts of the films I create.
Frequently Asked Questions
Have you filmed weddings at Iris Estate before?
Yes. I’ve had the opportunity to film weddings at Black Iris Estate and have become familiar with how the property flows throughout the day. Knowing the venue allows me to focus less on logistics and more on capturing genuine moments.
Does Black Iris Estate work well for wedding videography?
Absolutely. Between the gardens, mansion, and reception spaces, Black Iris Estate offers a variety of beautiful backdrops without needing to leave the property. Having everything in one location also helps the day feel more relaxed and gives us more time to capture meaningful moments.
Will my ceremony and speeches be recorded in full?
Yes. Every wedding I film includes the full ceremony and speeches, along with a cinematic wedding film and a documentary wedding film that preserves the day as it happened.
Do you work well with photographers?
Absolutely. My goal is always to work alongside your photographer so neither of us is competing for moments. The day should never feel like a production.
Do you direct us all day?
Not at all. I’ll give guidance when it’s helpful, but most of the day I’m simply observing and documenting what naturally unfolds. I want your wedding film to feel like your wedding, not a staged photo shoot. That’s the philosophy behind my documentary wedding films, which you can learn more about here.
Do you use drones at Black Iris Estate?
When weather, FAA regulations, and the day’s schedule allow, I enjoy incorporating aerial footage to help establish the venue and surrounding grounds. However, my focus is always on the people and the story, so drone footage is used only when it adds something meaningful to your film.
